A recent trademark application by Sega has raised the hopes of Super Monkey Ball fans waiting for the next entry in the series.
As discovered by Twitter user @piercesword, Sega recently submitted an application in Japan for the trademark “Tatago! Super Monkey Ball”.
The trademark is naturally in Japanese but you can see it in all its glory below:

Of course, a trademark doesn’t necessarily indicate that a new game is in the works but it’s hard to think of much else that it could relate to (other than a TV show, which definitely needs to happen). It’s also been 5 years since we saw an entry in the franchise (themobile game Super Monkey Ball Bounce was released in 2014) and 9 years since it was last seen on console.
