Game Freak had some help designing Corviknight, the Flying and Steel-type Pokémon from Pokémon Sword and Shield it turns out.

Hitoshi Ariga, the manga artist behind Mega Man Megamix and The Big O, among other works, confirmed on Twitter that he was involved with some designs in the recent Pokémon releases, in particular the design of Corviknight.

This isn’t the first time Ariga has been involved in designing for the Pokémon series: he designed the Amaura, Grubbin, Honedge, Inkay, and Tyrunt line of evolutions, as well as the Alolan Geodude and Grimer evolutions. Ariga also provided art for the Cosmic Eclipse expansion of the Pokémon Trading Card Game, including the Pikachu card (which features a drawing of Red and Pikachu) and the Red & Blue Trainer Supporter card.

Pokémon Sword and Shield are available now for Nintendo Switch.
