Japanese developers have created countless RPGs that, despite wide spread acclaim within their own country, have never made their way to foreign shores. With today’s announcement, the 7th Dragon franchise can be removed from that list.
7th Dragon III Code: VFD has a rather unique setup as your player character joins up with a video game company waging a time-traveling war against dragons that present an existential threat to the world. The gameplay appears to put a major focus on dungeon diving while building your highly customizable, class-based party. When not adventuring, players will be able to socialize with the game’s cast of characters and work on improving their base with wonderfully useful additions like a cat cafe. All of this comes wrapped with what looks like some pretty slick visuals with a contemporary style that fits the game’s main setting, near-future Tokyo.
7th Dragon III Code: VFD will be released in North America sometime this summer, so stay on the lookout for more information in the coming months.

This looks pretty good! Just jumped on my radar for sure.
Weird. Interesting, but weird.
