There’s no question that Perfect Dark and GoldenEye 007 represent two of the best shooters of their generation. Both helped revitalize the genre and gave Nintendo 64 some hardcore respectability at a time when PlayStation was the big thing. Both employed Nintendo 64’s four inputs to great effect, foreshadowing the multiplayer shooters of the internet era.
But with GoldenEye‘s 15th anniversary just a couple of months away, there’s been a bit of an internal debate going on between the staff lately– just which one’s the better shooter? Whichever way we look at it, we just can’t decide, so we decided the only way to find out once and for all was to do what we always do when we have an argument on our hands– settle it with a good old fashioned versus article.
