The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is proving to be something of a juggernaut. The film has been breaking records since launch, and many of the records it hasn’t broken are, ironically, held by the film’s predecessor, The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Over the past weekend, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has hauled in $375.2 million. Mama mia, indeed.
$190 million of that sum comes from the domestic box office, while the remainder has been cobbled together from international markets. The success of the film is the best of an animated film in 2026, and there seems to be little momentum being lost as it heads into the next weekend. The Nintendo and NBCUniversal-produced Mario Galaxy Movie was made on a reported $100 million budget, meaning even with marketing factored in, this is looking to be an enormous financial windfall for both companies.
