007 First Light is IO Interactive’s upcoming James Bond adventure set when the famous super spy was still just coming up. Despite the book-accurate scar on his face, many a fan has been worried about the authenticity of the portrayal of the character in the game, but Nintendo fans apparently have something a little more pressing to be concerned over—namely that First Light won’t be coming out alongside the other versions of the game. Sadly, it has been announced that IO Interactive has had to push back the release of First Light to sometime this summer. Here’s the announcement, which was made via the game’s official X account:
007 First Light comes to PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on May 27th, 2026, and Nintendo Switch 2 later this summer. We’re excited to see players discovering James Bond’s reimagined origin story, and we are looking forward to bringing you the best game experience possible…

As the post states, the PS5, Xbox Series, and PC iterations of First Light will be hitting the May 27, 2026 launch date that had been previously announced. The Switch 2 version, however, has been pushed back with no explanation as to why. Given this is a next gen launch, it’s possible that the game simply isn’t running at an acceptable level on Switch 2, thus IO deciding to wait to launch First Light until later. Here’s some footage of the game running on PS5 to get a sense of the level of detail we’re talking about here:
If we learn more about why the game was delayed on Switch 2, we’ll be sure to share it with all of youu. Will you be waiting to play First Light on Switch 2, or will you opt to get the game on a different platform, instead? Share with us below and on social media!
