The beloved battle royale puzzler Tetris 99 has been updated. It has actually been a while since the game has received a proper update, which was back in 2022. Nintendo has apparently been tinkering away in the background to improve the game’s performance, as evidenced by the surprise release of Version 2.4.0 yesterday. Here are the patch notes:
Latest update: Ver. 2.4.0 (Released March 14, 2024)
General
- Various adjustments have been made to improve the gameplay experience.
*Ver. 2.1.0 through 2.3.0 are compatible with local communication (“Local Arena” mode). Ver. 2.0.0 is not compatible with local communication. Please keep each other’s update versions in mind.
Although Tetris 99 hasn’t gotten a general update for a bit, it has nonetheless been very active with fresh content drops in the form of Maximus Cups. The last couple happened at the end of 2023, celebrating the releases of WarioWare: Move It! and Super Mario Bros. Wonder. If we hear more about this update beyond what’s listed here, we will let you all know. In the meanwhile, why not speculate what new themes could be heading to Tetris 99 down in the comments and online!
