In what has become somewhat of a trend, the Switch continues to sell extremely well and recently broke a number of records over the Thanksgiving period.

It became the best-selling Nintendo console in U.S. history for that five-day period, beating even the Wii’s sales. In fact, last week was actually the best ever for the system in North America and according to Nintendo, shoppers spent more than $250 million on Nintendo products during the period (which includes hardware and Nintendo-produced games and accessories).

The figures keep on coming- this year’s Thanksgiving to Cyber Monday period saw a 45 percent increase in U.S. hardware sales compared to that period in 2017. The holiday boost has also helped Switch’s overall sales reach 8.2 million, which is not bad considering this is only its second holiday season.

Other US figures worth noting:

  • Pokémon Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Eevee! have together sold more than 1.5 million units.
  • Super Mario Party has sold more than 1 million units, making it the best selling title in the series in that region.
  • Nintendo 3DS has hit a lifetime sales figure of 22 million.
  • The Super NES Classic Edition has sold 2.5 million and the NES Classic Edition has sold 2 million.

Of course, Switch is doing particularly well outside of the US as well. We recently heard how Super Mario Odyssey has sold 500,000 units in the UK, while the Pokémon Let’s Go games have together sold more than 3 million globally (making it the fastest selling Switch title to date).

All of which bodes particularly well for the console and with games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on the horizon, it is showing no signs of slowing down.
