It’s no secret that Nintendo’s handheld hybrid didn’t exactly launch with a big lineup of games, outside Breath of the Wild. Super Bomberman R was one of the few Switch titles on shelves other than Nintendo’s latest entry in the Zelda franchise, and it proved to be a strong early option. Many Switch owners clearly agreed, as the title has now sold more than one million units worldwide! To celebrate that feat, Konami has released a video of the mascot bungee-jumping.
Konami has yet to give a platform breakdown for those million units, but we do know the majority sold on Switch; the game had shipped half of that number as of April 2017, and Super Bomberman R was an exclusive up until June of this year. While those sales numbers don’t quite match the strength of Nintendo’s first party releases on Switch, it’s still an impressive showing. Third party publishers have been much happier with Switch than the last few Nintendo consoles, and strong sales certainly have to help that fact.
