Fortnite has just released a new update that blocks out the “toxicity” that other players showcase. If you play Fortnite often, you’ll know that every now and then when you die in-game, the player who eliminated you will use a, let’s just say impolite emote. Some examples being “Take the L” or “Donkey Laugh.” However, with this new setting inbound, you can edit how much of your opponent’s emotes you see.
We want emotes to be a source of good vibes, but a few (*cough* Take the L *cough*) can sometimes feel a bit overly confrontational.
Tomorrow’s update will introduce a new Confrontational Emotes setting to toggle visibility on these Emotes.

This change applies only to emotes that can be seen as “confrontational.” The four emotes this setting applies to are Laugh it Up, Take the L, Whipcrack, and Make it Plantain. Just for clearance, this won’t stop players from using the emote, it will just disable your viewing of the emote from your opposition. The player with the setting enabled will just see the player using the emote standing still with no sound. So, let’s spread a little more positivity on the Fortnite island and a little less “L”s shall we?

How do you guys feel about this update?
I mean … sure?
From my admittedly-old point of view, Fortnite is a (mediocre) multiplayer game featuring humans shooting humans for sport. Children blast each other with shotguns at point-blank range. Sniper headshots are celebrated. The fact that the game also contains dancing and motion-captured gestures feels very weird to me. Some of those actions being the triggers that go too far for some players is … a problem I can acknowledge, and be glad someone’s trying to help address, but I don’t understand it at all.
