Introducing Nintendojo, Jr.

The next generation of video game journalists is upon us!

Welcome, one and all, to our latest publishing initiative here at Nintendojo. As some of you might know, I moonlight as Mr. Marrujo, a mild-mannered teacher. As it so happens, I’ve found that many of the young people I interact with are both players of video games and exceptional writers. I realized that it would be a wonderful opportunity to start giving a platform to these young up-and-coming writers right here on Nintendojo, and thus was born Nintendojo, Jr.

From time to time, we will feature work from student writers. These articles might be simple news stories, or they might be editorials, as well. It will be an opportunity for them to get some published writing under their belts, while we get to enjoy the perspectives of the next generation of creatives in the world of video game journalism.

Our first crop of writers will be from a group of middle school kids I have the pleasure of teaching. Welcome to the Nintendojo, Jr. family:

  • Olivia Montalvo
  • Michael Nicolson
  • Tyler Nubin

As time goes by, we’ll introduce more junior writers into the fold and we hope that you’ll look forward to getting to know them.

    Welcome! What a wonderful idea.

Some of my favorite middle-school memories include writing up and printing out computer game “magazines” with my friends. It makes me all kinds of happy to see the next generations engaging in similar activity, this time for real!
