The Best Nintendo Switch Game Award category was officially canceled for this year at Gamescom. According to an interview with The Gamer, the decision was made due to a lack of submissions. The award committee, in light of this, decided to cancel the category altogether. This is the first time since 2011, when platform-exclusive awards were introduced, that there was no award for the best Switch game.

Last year, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom won most of the awards by a landslide, earning multiple titles such as best audio, “most epic” game, and of course, best Nintendo game. Hopefully, we get to see this exciting reward return in the next Gamescom.
