The Entertainment Software Association (ESA), the originators of the now-defunct convention E3, has introduced a new industry-exclusive event: iicon (Interactive Innovation Conference).
Set to take place from April 27 to April 30, 2026, iicon is designed to bring together visionaries, industry leaders, and innovators to explore the evolving role of interactive entertainment. The event promises keynote speeches, in-depth discussion, hands-on workshops, and exclusive networking opportunities with top execs from the entertainment, business, and tech sectors.
Several major players in the gaming and entertainment industry have already confirmed their participation, including:
- Amazon Games
- Disney
- Electronic Arts
- Epic Games
- Microsoft
- Sony Interactive Entertainment
- Square Enix
- Take-Two Interactive
- Ubisoft
Unlike E3, which at the end of its run opened its doors to the public, iicon is strictly invite-only. It remains uncertain whether any presentations or showcases will be made to the general public featuring upcoming games projects from within the game industry. While iicon aims to fill the void E3 left behind, it appears to be focused more on high level industry collaboration rather than the large scale consumer experience that E3 once provided.
