SGF ’26: Final Fantasy VII: Revelation Ends the Trilogy in 2027

Final Fantasy VII’s trilogy of remakes has had two installments released on Nintendo Switch 2: Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. A trilogy means three games, of course, and thus fans wondered if all three games would be coming to Switch 2. Back in May of last year, director Naoki Hamaguchi had suggested that the full trio of titles would indeed make its way to Nintendo fans, and during Summer Game Fest 2026, that was revealed to be the case. Take a look:

Final Fantasy VII Revelation is the final installment of the Final Fantasy VII Remake Series, and it’s coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in the spring of 2027. It looks gorgeous in the trailer, and also seems to be pretty far along in development, so hopes are high that Square Enix can get Revelation out on time. The trailer shows off a number of things, so let’s get into the highlights:

  • Cid and Vincent: Fans got to see both heroes in all their playable glory. Revelation will mark the first time in the Remake Series that both characters are fully playable members of the team.
  • The Highwind: Cid’s airship is officially the team’s means of travel, with the entire game world open for the crew to travel to. Cloud and company are able to dive from the Highwing to the surface in dramatic fashion. Speaking of fashion…
  • FITS System: With this new system, players can outfit characters with different costumes that not only change their look, but also grant them new abilities that are not unlike traditional Final Fantasy jobs. Make Aerith a Black Mage or turn Cloud into a Warrior; the possibilities are endless.
