More information continues to trickle in about the upcoming mobile release Pokémon Masters. While it’s already known that the game will feature something called sync pairs, special duos of trainers and Pocket Monsters, a recent Tweet from the official Pokémon account has pulled the curtain back just a tad bit more. Check it out:
Befriending a new sync pair unlocks a special scene called a sync pair story! 😍 Here’s a sneak peak of Iris and Haxorus’s sync pair story!

Basically, players will be able to interact directly with the sync pairs that they accumulate in-game. These interactions take the form of small sync pair story videos that offer insights into the relationship between the Pokémon and trainer combo. Through variable dialogue prompts, players can ask questions to probe into the sync pair’s history and develop a relationship with them. It’s a fascinating quirk that speaks to the different direction that Pokémon Masters is going in.
