A few months back, Nintendojo reported on an upcoming “Salute to 8-Bit and Arcades Night” event hosted by the Frisco RoughRiders AA baseball team. During the event, which was held on July 8, the team wore custom jerseys based on the Game Boy while fans had the opportunity to take part in a number of other video game related events throughout Dr Pepper Ballpark. In addition to arcade machines situated throughout the park, gaming mascots were also on-hand for photo opportunities. The team provided Nintendojo with a number of photos from the event, which we’ve shared below!
The team’s jerseys that evening featured the players’ names placed where the Game Boy cartridge would normally be located. Because the game took place the day after the shootings in Dallas, the team also wore Dallas PD hats in honor of the fallen officers.
Unfortunately, the Frisco RoughRiders lost to the Arkansas Travelers that evening by a score of 5-10. Regardless of the outcome, however, it looks like a pretty cool event! Fans interested in purchasing the team’s Game Boy-inspired jerseys can still find them on sale at the team store here. For more information on Nintendo-related events, stay tuned to Nintendojo!
