Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door is set to launch on Nintendo Switch starting May 23, 2024. If you’ve been interested in learning a bit more about this remake, or if it’s been a while since you played the original, Nintendo has you covered with this handy new overview trailer. Give it a gander, dear reader:
There are some notable changes to look forward to in this remaster of Thousand Year Door besides the upgraded visuals. A tap of ZL while in the game world will compel one of Mario’s allies to provide a hint about what to do next. Battle Master is a new character who hangs around Rogueport and helps teach players how to master action commands during battle. The Trouble Center is where the game’s side quests are located (like in the original), but inside players can now pay to get hints regarding how to proceed. These hints are then recorded in the Journal and can be referenced at the player’s leisure. Merluvlee, a fortune teller, also has her hints logged into the Journal. Overall, players should never (theoretically) be at a loss as to where to go next in Thousand Year Door.
There other tweaks to look forward to, as well, including the Partner Wheel, which lets players swap between companions in an instant as opposed to having to pause repeatedly and make menu selections, and an overhauled Warp Pipe room for fast travel. Alas, there is already one notable downgrade in this version of Thousand Year Door, and it’s that the game will be running at 30fps instead of 60fps like on the GameCube. Regardless, it won’t be long before players get to take on this remaster; are you looking forward to playing? Let us know below!
