This week’s Nintendo Download may not be quite as packed as last week’s, but there are still a few noteworthy titles to keep your eyes on. StreetPass fans will be happy to know that the latest StreetPass Mii Plaza games, Ultimate Angler and Battleground Z, are now available for download, while the first batch of Super Smash Bros. DLC costumes can be purchased for both the 3DS and Wii U versions. The biggest release this week, however, is Donkey Kong 64, Rare’s polarizing attempt at bringing the tie-wearing ape into three dimensions. Whether you love or loathe the game, it’s nice to see it finally appear in the Wii U Virtual Console, and its massive quest is sure to keep players busy for a long while (or at least until Paper Mario hits the service in two weeks).

I grabbed DK64 right away. I no longer have my N64 hooked up, and sometimes a man’s got to play a real 3D platformer, you know?
I’d never thought of the game as polarizing, that’s interesting. It’s basically a combination of the DKC trilogy and Banjo Kazooie, so even if it’s not perfect, how can you go wrong there?. :^) I suppose the collect-a-thon isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I really miss these kinds of games.
In any case, I’ve got all the Donkey Kong I could ever need sitting on my Wii U and 3DS now. SNES and GB trilogies, Returns 3D and Tropical Freeze, and now the long-missed DK64… Huh. Talk about collect-a-thons…
