Last month, we reported how Limited Run Games was partnering with Lucasfilm Games to bring Star Wars for NES and Game Boy back for modern audiences on real cartridges for their respective systems. This extra effort to even more thoroughly scratch that nostalgic itch wasn’t just a one-time deal though; the publisher has revealed their next wave of old school Star Wars games getting the cartridge treatment for the first time in decades.
Since they kicked things off with Star Wars, it only makes sense that The Empire Strikes Back for Game Boy and NES would be next in line for release. However, they aren’t alone as Shadows of the Empire for Nintendo 64 is getting the same treatment. They will start taking preorders on July 26.
The addition of N64 games to the lineup is interesting as it raises questions about even more games, such as Star Wars Episode 1: Racerand Rogue Squadron. This also makes the question of which other games might be next as Return of the Jedi never came out for NES, though it did get a Game Boy version as part of the Super Star Wars series.
