A recent interview by Glixel with Hisashi Nogami and Shintaro Sato, Splatoon 2‘s producer and programming director, revealed that a previously unannounced mode will be coming to the game.
Called “League Battle”, it was explained that:
“players can play either in groups of two or four, and it will present you with a two-hour period in which your group competes with other groups to see how many points you can earn. Because the results of that League Battle play will be displayed in a ranking at the end of every two-hour period, we can give players goals to strive for, and hope to encourage them to keep competing and pushing.”
The developers didn’t say anything else on the new mode, but you can expect more information to be shared in the weeks leading up to Splatoon 2‘s release.
The release date for Splatoon 2 is July 21, and be sure to check out the extensive array of Splatoon themed hardware that has already been unveiled.
