It’s funny to think how far the Fire Emblem franchise has come. When Marth and Roy appeared in Super Smash Bros. Melee, most players outside of Japan had never heard of Fire Emblem. Since then, the series has become one of Nintendo’s most reliable franchises globally. The latest entry, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, is proving to be every bit as reliable: the title is now the fastest selling Fire Emblem title in the US!
According to the NPD group, Three Houses outsold Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia by triple in its debut month. The 3DS title was the previous record holder for the franchise. Fire Emblem: Awakening is currently the best-selling game in the series in the US, but Three Houses is already closing in on second place. Three Houses was the second best-selling game of the month, falling to the combined numbers for Madden 2020 on PS4 and Xbox One. That said, it should be pointed out that these numbers only account for physical sales. Nintendo keeps digital sales close to their chest, so the title could very well have sold quite a bit better than we know!
With strong physical sales and a mobile game generating quite a bit of cash for Nintendo, it’s safe to say the Fire Emblem franchise has grown quite a bit over the last 18 years! Have you played Fire Emblem: Three Houses yet? Let us know what you think of the title in the comments below!
