What do Yooka-Laylee and Snake Pass have in common? Aside from the fact that the two games lovingly pay homage to the collect-a-thon platformers of the Nintendo 64 era, both also feature the musical stylings of David Wise, the legendary video game composer renowned for his work on Donkey Kong Country and many other Rare classics. Sumo Digital, the studio behind Snake Pass, revealed today that Wise will be contributing his musical talents to the upcoming platformer, which is slated to arrive on Switch (and all other major platforms) later this spring.
Borne out of Sumo Digital’s first internal “game jam,” Snake Pass is a physics-based puzzle platformer starring the unlikely pair of Noodle the snake and Doodle the hummingbird. Mr. Wise had the following to say about his involvement in the project: “Once I played the game and saw the captivating world Sumo created, it set my mind on fire. I immediately began composing melodies, then worked with the team to develop these and nail down the feel of the soundtrack.”
You can listen to two short samples of Wise’s work on Snake Pass below:
Naturally, we’re very big fans of Mr. Wise’s work here at Nintendojo, so any project that he’s involved with will automatically pique our interest!

Big score for this game, for sure. This news finally got me to go watch the trailer. Looks like a lovely concept! I didn’t realize this was the team behind the latest Sonic Racing games, too. Not a bad resume.
Physical release with bonus soundtrack CD pretty please. This game looks like great fun. Now we know it will sound great!
This just went from “eh, whatever” to “totally on my radar.”
