Sumo Digital has announced that its upcoming game, Snake Pass, is coming to Nintendo Switch early this year.
Snake Pass is a puzzle platformer which sees players control a snake by slithering through levels. It will support the TV, tabletop, and handheld modes on Switch and will run at 30 FPS and 720p when undocked, and at 30FPS and 1080p when docked.
When asked about the Switch version of the title, Sumo Digital’s COO, Paul Porter, had the following to say:
“Considering the short amount of time we have been working on the platform and the fact that the Switch isn’t launched yet, things have gone surprisingly well… We had the game up and running within a week. Nintendo and Epic have given us tremendous support when needed. The use of Unreal gave us a great head start when we first got the hardware.”
The UK developer is predominantly known for its work on the console ports of OutRun 2 and for Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. Interestingly, it has held several internal “game jams” to help encourage creative thinking, and Snake Pass first came about through one of these.
Snake Pass will be released on Switch, Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4, and is due out sometime in early 2017.
