It’s been almost two years since Pokémon X and Y debuted on the Nintendo 3DS. Last year’s Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire gave fans a chance to revisit the Hoenn region, but those titles didn’t add any new entries to the Pokédex, and we haven’t gotten any word on when to expect the next generation of Pokémon titles just yet. That might change soon, however, as Japanese magazine CoroCoro has provided readers with a glimpse at a brand new Pokémon! We’ve mirrored an image of the creature below!
There haven’t been any further details about this newly unveiled “green blob” Pokémon as of this time. The character is set to debut in the upcoming feature film Pokémon XY: The Movie. This sort of reveal is not without precedent. The Pokémon anime, and its feature films specifically, have a history of revealing new pocket monsters before they appear in the games themselves. Marill and Snubbull both made their debut in Pokémon: The First Movie, which released in North America nearly a year before the release of Pokémon Gold and Silver. Since then, it’s become a bit of a tradition, with many other future Pokémon stars appearing on the big screen before showing up on the smaller (handheld) one.
More information on the new Pokémon will be unveiled in the September 15 issue of CoroCoro. Stay tuned to Nintendojo for more information as it develops!
