These days, it’s no surprise to hear that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has sold well on Switch. But it is interesting to find out that the game is now the second-highest selling entry in the franchise in Japan since The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on the Nintendo 64.

Breath of the Wild has so far gone on to sell 957,752 copies at retail on Switch in Japan, with digital sales likely to push that figure over one million. For comparison, Ocarina of Time has sold around 1.25 million copies since it was released in 1998.

Of course, this not only speaks to the quality of Link’s latest adventure, but also that of the 1998 game, which has remained untoppled for the last 19 years.

This news comes less than a month after Breath of the Wild took home the 2017 Game of the Year Award at The Game Awards.
