Playonic, an independent studio made up of ex-Rare employees, immediately made a name for themselves with their first title, Yooka-Laylee, a spiritual successor to their past employer’s beloved Banjo-Kazooie franchise. For their next title, Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, they kept their new characters but paid homage to another past work, the Donkey Kong Country series, by switching the perspective to 2D.
While the latter title has been available for purchase since October 2019, it seems the developers are making a push to attract any gamers who might still be on the fence. The demo will include several stages, including the game’s namesake, the Impossible Lair — a super challenging, exceptionally long stage that can be tackled at any time but is effectively made easier by completing more of the game.
Good news! A free demo of Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is on the way!
