While Yo-Kai Watch’s popularity isn’t as high as it used to be, there are still plenty of folks excited for each entry as the latest, Yo-Kai Watch 4, was still able to top Japan’s weekly sales charts when it came out there last month. This was the franchise’s first entry on Switch, and it looks like the developers at Level 5 want to continue strengthening their presence on the system because they just revealed a remake of the first game as well.
Yo-Kai Watch 1 is an updated version of the original 3DS game which first came out in Japan back in 2013 and North America in 2015. It looks like the big focus will be updating the visuals to match the Switch’s HD output but there will also be new locations and activities found throughout the world as well.
Yo-Kai Watch 1 will release in Japan October 10. Nothing has been said about a release outside of Japan just yet; given past games, it does seem likely, albeit with a bit of lag time. Each of the previous games generally took about two years to find their way to other markets and while Yo-Watch Watch 4 will be localized, nothing has been said about when it will come out. Regardless, it’s definitely still “wait and see” at the moment.
