XIII is a title that many a gamer might have forgotten about. After all, the original made its mark back in 2003 on GameCube and hasn’t been heard from since. In a surprise announcement, it was revealed by publisher Microïds and developer PlayMagic Ltd. that XIII is due for a remake! Take your first glimpse at the teaser trailer below:
XIII is based on the French comic book series of the same name and stars the titular amnesiac soldier who is accused of killing the President of the United States. The game’s gorgeous cel-shaded art style was a sight to behold back in the day and looks to be getting a serious upgrade for this remake. According to Giuseppe Crugliano, CEO & Creative Director at PlayMagic Ltd., “the PlayMagic team is very excited for the opportunity to remake a true classic; modernizing the graphics, sound and animations while remaining faithful to the original XIII’s incredible look and feel. XIII’s gameplay mechanics are being reworked in an effort to modernize the experience in a way that encompasses the original spirit of the game. We are sure that the fans of the original game will love rediscovering one of their all time favorites while new players discover a truly iconic masterpiece in a new light.”
