While it’s not uncommon for Switch games to only be available for download, it’s somewhat strange for games from bigger companies, especially more recent titles, not to be found in brick and mortar stores. However, this oddity happened to be the case for World of Final Fantasy Maxima, a family-friendly mash-up of entries from Square Enix’s most recognized series that was ported to Switch last month after having originally been released on PlayStation Consoles in 2016. Collectors who like boxed copies might be happy to hear that will soon change, though it might not be quite as convenient as they might like.
World of Final Fantasy Maxima will be getting a physical release, however it has only been confirmed for Asian markets so far. The good news, though, is that Switch is region free and this version will support plenty of international languages: English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, French, Italian, German, and Spanish. So, barring a similar announcement in other markets, adding the game to your collection will only involve a little extra money for the cost of global shipping.
While we don’t necessarily have an exact release date for this version of the game, online retailer Play-Asia has the game available for preorder with an expected ship date of sometime in February. Perhaps we’ll hear something about releases in other markets between now and then to make things a little easier for collectors.
