VVVVVV for 3DS is a great little platformer with a wonderful retro style and simple, yet challenging mechanics built around switching gravity, and I personally recommend it. Unfortunately, if you think that sounds fun, you’ll either have to wait or get it for a different system, because the 3DS version has been removed from eShop, at least for the moment.
The game’s developer, Terry Cavanagh, recently revealed that an exploit was discovered that, when used in conjunction with other hacks and exploits, could open the system to unapproved uses, such as homebrew software. After this came to light, Nintendo removed the game from eShop, though those who currently have it can still play it unimpeded. Other games have experienced such things before, and are often made available after a patch is released that fixes the exploit.
Hopefully this process won’t take too long and we’ll be able to report that VVVVVV is back up for sale soon. And once it is back up, I really do recommend trying it out.
