Vampire Survivors is the highly addictive roguelike shoot ’em up that came to Nintendo Switch in August of 2023. The game sees players control their character’s movement and nothing else, with attacks coming out automatically at different intervals as they move around the playing field killing enemies. Different upgrades and abilities can combine for truly lethal and engaging runs each time out. Now, Vampire Survivors is getting a new expansion on 10.31.24 dubbed to Ode to Castlevania. Take a look:
Here’s a bit more about the DLC from developer poncle:
- 20+ New Characters:
- The Belmonts, including Simon, Richter, Trevor, and even Sonia.
- The Belnades, including Sypha, Yoko and others.
- Other Heroes, including Jonathan and Charlotte, and others.
- 40+ New Weapons:
- Whips
- Spells
- Magic Weapons
- Projectiles
- Glyphs
- A Monstrously Large Stage:
- The largest map Vampire Survivors has ever seen, stacked with sinister secrets and a bunch of baneful bosses.
- 30+ New Music Tracks:
- A ridiculous amount of remixes of Castlevania tracks from Vampire Survivors historic composers Daniele Zandara and Filippo Vicarelli, and more.
- ♫ Vampire Killer, Bloody Tears, Simon’s Theme, Leon’s Theme, and more
- ♫ Moonlight Nocturne, Lost Paintings, Dance of Pearls
- ♫ Aquarius, The Beginning, Divine Bloodlines
- ♫ An Empty Tome, Invitation of a Crazed Moon, Pitch Black Intrusion
- ♫ Amber Scenery, Sarabande of Healing, Jaws of a Scorched Earth
- On top of that we have borrowed several dozen original tracks from Castlevania games.
As noted above, the Ode to Castlevania DLC will launch on Halloween. It will have an MSRP of $3.99 if you’re interested in giving it a download.

The ongoing gag has been that the vampire must be in another coffin — Vampire Survivors has gone through all these upgrades and DLC additions without any actual vampires turning up.
Is this it? Could this be the moment Vampire Survivors gains … a vampire?
Either way, I’ve had a lot of fun with this very silly and deceptively simple game. It will be a joy to see all this crossover material join up with the homages and parodies which the game has always heavily featured.
