ToeJam and Earl found some success in the early 90s on Sega Genesis and had a brief foray on the original Xbox a decade later, but for the most part the franchise was relatively silent for the better part of two decades. Thankfully for fans, the lull ended earlier this year with the release of ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove for modern systems, including Nintendo Switch. However, developer HumanNature isn’t quite done with game, as they have announced a live stream to discuss future updates as well as revel in 90s nostalgia.
On May 26, the latest game will be the focus of the ToeJam and Earl Super Funky Telethon, an event taking inspiration from the franchise’s formative decade. For gamers, the real focus will be updates to the game, including the addition of four player support and an endless mode, though there might be more surprises in store, as well. But there are other reasons to tune in, mainly the addition of 90s movie icons Macaulay Culkin, who actually served as Executive Producer of the game, and Freddie Prinze Jr.
The event will be streamed on YouTube, Twitch, and Mixer from 12-4 PM PST (3-7pm EST) and viewers will even have the chance to call in for the chance to talk with guests as well as win prizes.
