From Digerati and [bracket]games comes Three Fourths Home: Extended Edition for Nintendo Switch, a “critically acclaimed interactive drama” with “an affecting story” and minimal art style.
The game originally launched in 2014 and has since called multiple platforms its home, with the Switch being its latest console destination. Three Fourths Home: Extended Edition was also an IGF Finalist for Excellence in Narrative, as a short story that explores the emotional ties between family.
The game centers on 20-something year-old Kelly, as she is forced to move back home to Nebraska, much to her chagrin, when an intense storm moves in. The story follows Kelly during her drive home in the storm and players must navigate conversations between Kelly, her younger brother, and her parents, and dialogue choices and driving mechanics serve to highlight specific moments in their relationships with one another. Continuing the conversation is key – stop talking and time slows down to a crawl.
Also included is the epilogue, “Idling in the Rubber,” which expands on the game’s main story.
