Developer 11 bit studios has announced that This War of Mine has sold over 4.5 million copies across all platforms since release.
First available on PC in 2014, This War of Mine: Complete Edition came to Switch back in November of last year and included all post-release DLC. The survival strategy game is set in a besieged fictional city and was inspired by the 1992-1996 siege of Sarajevo during the Bosnian War.
The game’s success has allowed 11 bit studios to donate over $500,000 to charity War Child through sales of the This War of Mine DLC. The charity supports children in areas experiencing conflict and the aftermath of conflict and it’s great to see that the developers have used This War of Mine‘s success to raise money to those suffering in real life, especially as the game itself centers on the effects of war for civilians.
Of course, the reason it has been so successful is that the gameplay itself is solid and I’d definitely recommend giving it a try if you haven’t already.
This War of Mine: Complete Edition is available to download now on Switch, PC, PS4, Xbox One and on mobile devices.
