Toys-to-life figures like Amiibo and Skylanders have become a regular fixture in the world of video games, and now developer Level-5 wants to throw its hat into the ring with The Snack World. From the makers of Professor Layton and Yo-Kai Watch, The Snack World is an RPG that comes with a range of toys to collect and use in-game. Take a peek at the Japanese launch trailer below!

The game revolves around a customizable hero who utilizes something called Jara, which are miniature weapons that grow in size during battles. Players will be able to buy their own Jara in the real world and scan them into the game for use. It’s an interesting spin on the usual toy-to-life model that fans are accustomed to.
The anime debuts on the same day that the game drops, which is July 13; Level-5 is pushing The Snack World pretty hard as a multimedia franchise, so it wouldn’t be all that surprising to hear this one is coming to the West at some point.
