The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been dropping jaws since its unveiling at this year’s E3, where it served as Nintendo’s sole piece of software on the show floor and wowed anyone who spent time in the company’s booth. Such is the hype for this title that some of the top video game news outlets, including IGN, have bestowed the title with numerous coveted “Best of Show” awards. As one of the journalists in attendance, I can say with confidence that Breath of the Wild deserves all the accolades it has received thus far, and it makes me happy to report that the game has garnered yet another top honor for its performance at E3.
The Game Critics Awards for E3 2016 is comprised of some 40 different outlets which voted and determined that Breath of the Wild was their collective Game of the Show for the year. No small feat, that, but the next Legend of Zelda was also bestowed awards for Best Action/Adventure Game and Best Console Game. All this praise is a great sign for Nintendo, as the company is on the verge of unveiling its mysterious NX console which will be offering its own version of Breath of the Wild. If the game in its finished form is as pleasing as the one percent of the overworld that players have been offered a glimpse of, Nintendo might have a new classic on its hands to offer along with its shiny, new home console!
