Consider giving Colin Beasley’s unique take on the music from The Legend of Zelda series some support!
If there’s one certainty about the video game industry, it’s that fans internalize and take to heart every aspect the games that they play. From elaborate cosplays to fan-made software, the industry’s devotees are sometimes as passionate, if not more so, than the people actually making the games we all play. One such fan is Colin Beasley, a hammered dulcimer player hailing from Alabama. here in the USA Colin is the 2018 National Hammered Dulcimer Champion and specialized in “dulcimer gumbo,” a hodgepodge of genres and instruments mixed together with the dulcimer.
The dulcimer is an ancient precursor to the modern day piano and is surprisingly perfect for the tunes of The Legend of Zelda series. Seriously,
go give Beasley’s work a listen on his YouTube channel. Beasley is currently crowdfunding an album via Kickstarter dubbed
The Legend of Dulcimer: Zelda Tunes on Hammered Dulcimer which will allow him to bring his spin on Zelda music to even more fans the world over. It currently sits at $17,281, which is well beyond the proposed $3,500 goal the project started with. That said, if you want to get in on the action and pledge some funds to procure a CD copy of the album, or even vinyl, you still have time. Hit up the widget or the link below.
