A new year has not slowed down Tetris 99 one bit. Starting on Thursday, January 20, the 28th Maximus Cup will begin. Which game will be taking the spotlight? That would be Pokémon Legends: Arceus, which just happens to be launching on Nintendo Switch a little more than a week later on January 28. How serendipitous.

If this is your first Maximus Cup, the way it works is that a special theme is up for grabs for those who participate in the competition. As you compete, you earn event points—once you’ve accumulated 100, the theme is yours to use as much as you like even after the event has concluded. It’s a pretty sweet deal.
