Take-Two’s latest financial results has revealed that Civilization VI has sold rather well on Nintendo Switch and has “particularly exceeded expectations“.
The port was released back in November and came just over two years after it was originally released on PC. The real good news though is that its success is encouraging the publisher to continue bringing games to the platform, as CEO Strauss Zelnick says:
“We felt good about the platform and we put the titles on Switch that we felt were going to perform well. We are excited about continuing to support the Switch for the right kind of properties.”
As a result of strong sales across its franchises, the publisher has now increased its predicted revenue for this financial year. This was in large part down to sales of Red Dead Redemption 2, but Grand Theft Auto V has also continued to do surprisingly well given how long it has been available.
Of course, there’s always a slim chance that strong sales on Switch will lead Take-Two to bring one of these franchises to the system. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
