Peep the trailer, too:
For those that are curious, Dragon’s Lair is a series of old-school adventure games that first came to be in 1983. It was masterminded by animator Don Bluth, whose resumé includes films like The Land Before Time, An American Tale, All Dogs Go To Heaven, and many others. Dragon’s Lair was a laserdisc game— for our younger readers, imagine a DVD (definitely not a Blu-ray) but the size of a vinyl record, and you’re just about there.
Dragon’s Lair was a huge deal because of the fidelity of its visuals. Thanks to the laserdisc technology powering it, the game allowed players to interact with what was ostensibly an actual cartoon. For all its graphical punch, however, Dragon’s Lair was less technically impressive from a gameplay standpoint. Regardless, it’s a fun and important piece of gaming history, and for those who have never experienced it, this release of Dragon’s Lair Trilogy on Switch might be the perfect way to do so.
