At Comcast’s 2019 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference, Chairman and CEO of Universal Parks & Resorts Tom Williams provided new details on Super Nintendo World and how it will “redefine what a park experience is like.”
The Nintendo-themed park— the first of which is set to open at Universal Studios Japan next spring— will have two rides available on opening day: Super Mario Kart and Yoshi’s Adventures.
Rides and attractions based on Nintendo franchises aren’t the only things setting Super Nintendo World apart from every other theme park: using a magnetic wristband, guests will be able to interact with the park and the wristband will tracks scores and interface “back with your game console so you can build on it and come back again,” according to Williams.
In an effort to not “defer attendance,” Williams couldn’t confirm a date when we might expect to see Super Nintendo World open in the United States or other Universal Studios locations around the world. He did say that it takes five to six years from conception to opening day, however.
This is pretty exciting stuff. What do you think the “scores” are that the wristbands will keep track of? What sort of interconnectivity would you like to see between the park and Switch? Let us know in the comments.
