Super Nintendo World has been a hit both in Japan and abroad since the parks were opened to the public. Of late, fans have been looking forward to the next expansion which will center around (and is named after) Donkey Kong Country. Now, in a surprise reveal, the company broadcasted a special Super Nintendo World Direct focused on the expansion and gave its release date. Check it out:
First off, Donkey Kong Country will open in the Osaka, Japan Super Nintendo World park on December 11, 2024. Attractions, as expected, will lean heavily into the Donkey Kong theme, with Shigeru Miyamoto himself showing off things like a bongo rhythm game for three players. The food is similarly DK-centric, so hopefully you don’t mind a lot of bananas in your cuisine. Finally, those looking for merchandise can head to Funky’s Fly and Buy, where all sorts of Donkey Kong collectibles will be available for sale.
It’s looking funner than a barrel full of monkeys, but alas, fans in the US will have to wait a while before the expansion opens here. In the interim, if you find yourself anywhere near Japan at the time of its opening, perhaps you can check out Donkey Kong Country for yourself.
