Sony might have a monopoly on Major League Baseball with its MLB The Show series, but that doesn’t mean America’s pastime can’t be represented in other ways. Case in point: Super Mega Baseball 2: Deluxe Edition! Give the Switch trailer a peep, below:
So, what’s the 411 on Metalhead Software’s take on baseball? Well, for starters (not openers, for you baseball fans in the crowd!), Super Mega Baseball 2: Ultimate Edition comes with the full game and all DLC in a single package. Super Mega Baseball 2 has a bunch of modes to indulge in, including:
- Pennant Race Mode (1v1)
- Arranged Matches (1v1, 2v1, 2v2)
- Versus AI (solo, local co-op, online co-op)
All of the difficulty level in the game is monitored and balanced by a system called Ego. According to Metalhead Software, players can also look forward to:
- Fully featured online play including cooperative season play and competitive cross-platform matchmaking via the game’s Pennant Race mode.
- 60 fps gameplay in both docked and handheld modes.
- Single Joy-ConTM support for intense shared screen head-to-head and cooperative play.
- Includes all content previously released as DLC on other platforms.
That’s a lot of baseball fun. The only catch here is that beloved teams such as this writer’s Oakland Athletics won’t be present, but beyond that the arcade-like sheen, exaggerated character models, and kinetic action appear to be more than enough to get players on the diamond. Super Mega Baseball 2: Ultimate Edition launches on July 25 for $29.99
