Super Mario Party launched on Nintendo Switch back in 2018. The multiplayer-focused title took the series to new heights with innovative, fresh minigames, a gorgeous aesthetic, and some interesting new modes to partake in. It might have garnered even more acclaim had its online multiplayer functionality been better implemented, however. Lacking the ability to play through the various boards with friends online, not to mention a limited slate of minigames to partake in on a rotating schedule, it was a major letdown for most fans.
Well, three years later, Nintendo has randomly decided to offer a free update that massively rectifies this problem. Take a look:
With this update, which is available now, fans can partake in the following modes online:
- Mario Party
- Partner Party
- Free Play (Minigames)
70 minigames are available for online play now as part of this update. Note that if playing with a second person on a single Switch console that online play will only allow a connection with up to one other system. Individuals playing solo on a Switch console will be able to connect with up to four other consoles. The update is incredibly welcome as it finally allows people all over the world to connect remotely and partake in Super Mario Party’s fun minigames. Alas, this would have been an even better addition at the start of the pandemic, but we digress.
