Streets of Rage 4 has been in the oven for a while now and many a fan has been waiting for that telltale “ding!” announcing its readiness for consumption (do let it cool and settle a bit first, there’s no sense in burning a tongue). A purported leak had come around asserting that the game would be launching on April 23. The developer pushed back, however, stating that would not be the case. Now, we finally know the true release date: April 30!

Here’s what to expect from the newest installment in the series known as Bare Knuckle in Japan:

  • The comeback of the legendary Streets of Rage series.
  • Beautiful graphics fully hand-drawn animated by the studio behind Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap.
  • Clean up Wood Oak City by yourself or with another friend online!
  • Team up to 4 people offline to take the city back for the very first time!
  • Classic gameplay enhanced with brand-new mechanics.
  • Soundtrack by a wide all-star line up of world-class musicians.
  • Braised chicken everywhere.
  • A dozen former Streets of Rage characters unlockable and playable in their original pixel versions.
  • Play with the music of the previous Streets of Rage games.
  • 12 unique stages.

If you’re into physical versions of games note that Limited Run Games is putting out both a standard and Classic Edition of Streets of Rage 4. the Classic Edition comes inside of a replica Sega Genesis box! Both versions of Streets of Rage 4 are available for preorder right now and will continue to be up until a week after the digital launch of the game in the eShop.
