That’s not a typo!

Reissues are nothing new in the video game industry, but it isn’t every day that one comes to a console that’s decades old. Yet, that’s exactly what Capcom and Iam8bit are doing for the 30th anniversary of the Street Fighter series. The duo will be re-releasing an actual, physical copy of Street Fighter II on SNES in late November for $100.

It’s a very cool idea that’s being dubbed the first in a line of reissues called the “Legacy Cartridge Collection”. This inaugural release is limited to 5,500 copies and comes with a tri-fold box, premium instruction booklet, and retro pack-in surprises. What’s more, there are also two color options for the cartridge… but there’s a catch!

4,500 of the copies released will be clad in “Opaque Ryu Red”, while the remaining 1,000 will be ensconced in “Glow-in-the-Dark Blanca Green.” Awesome, right? The only problem is that anyone who orders the bundle will have no clue which color they’ll be getting, as the Blanca ones are being randomly distributed. Expect to pay a pretty penny for those versions of the reissue on the secondary market, I’m sure.

Regardless, this is a truly wonderful way of celebrating a classic series hitting such a prestigious milestone. Will you be plunking down $100 to own a new copy of Street Fighter II? Share with us in the comments!
