After some changes in licensing in North America and Europe, the long developers of the Harvest Moon franchise at Marvelous continued their work under a new title, Story of Seasons. Much like the Harvest Moon games before it, Song of Seasons will be turned into a franchise with the announcement of a sequel, Story of Seasons: Good Friends of Three Towns for 3DS.
The latest issue of Famitsu has revealed many of the mechanics core to the genre will make a return, as the game once again focuses on working hard to make your character and farm financial and social pillars of the community. Character customization, including but not limited to gender, is also making a comeback. What’s new is the inclusion of three unique towns for you explore and interact with rather than the usual one. Tsuyukusa Village promises to be Japanese-themed, Wes Town will draws inspiration from Westerns, and Lulucoco Town will be something of a tropical paradise.

The game is obviously quite far along in development because it is scheduled for release in Japan this summer. Nothing has been said about a release outside of Japan, but considering Harvest Moon’s dedicated following, a worldwide release seems likely sooner or later.
