In an interview with Polygon, Story of Seasons producer Yoshifumi Hashimoto commented on the subject of in-game marriage– to be specific, the lack of gay marriage options for the game. While he acknowledges its inclusion as a future goal for the series, he explained why it’s not a simple addition, saying, “If we have to allow same-sex [relationships], we have to put more characters who are the same gender. As a game, it’s going to be so much more volume, two or three times more.”
Hashimoto also touched upon the character customization, stating that male and players can change their looks to dress up as the opposite sex and marry that way. He notes that’s not entirely satisfactory, however, and that promises that Story of Seasons will “catch up soon.”
