When Image & Form announced SteamWorld Dig 2 the studio mentioned that its new game would take advantage of Switch’s HD rumble feature. It’s taken some time, but in a recent interview posted to the official Nintendo UK site, Julius Guldblog, Community Manger at Image & Form, finally gave us an example of how the HD rumble feature will be implemented in SteamWorld Dig 2:
“I quite like what we’ve been able to pull off with HD Rumble. One thing is recreating the sensation of digging into certain materials. There’s so many cool things you can do. HD rumble will be a fabulous feature of SteamWorld Dig 2.”
That’s not a whole lot of detail, to be fair, but it sounds like Guldblog perhaps doesn’t want to give too much information on the feature given that it seems like it will be an important part of the gameplay experience. However, recreating the feel of digging into particular materials is a creative use of the rumble feature and really makes us wonder what other ways Image & Form will take advantage of HD rumble.
