SteamWorld Dig 2, the latest chapter in Image & Form’s celebrated series, launched last year to impressive commercial and critical success as it frequently popped up on the eShop’s best seller’s list. So far, however, downloading a digital copy has been the only way to play the game, but a recent ratings board listing suggests that might not always be the case.
A recent update to from the USK, effectively Germany’s version of the ESRB, listed the rating for a physical release of SteamWorld Dig 2. The listing has Rising Star Games as the publisher, and seeing how the company has previously worked with Image & Form on physical versions of their other games, it is looking more and more likely.
Of course, nothing has officially been announced yet, either for Europe or any other market, so we’ll have to wait until we hear something from the developer or the publisher. Regardless of whether or not SteamWorld Dig 2 eventually gets a physical release, it is a phenomenal game well worth playing no matter how you get it. In fact, it’s so good that not only did we name it the best Switch eShop game last year, but one of the best games of 2017, period.
